Flying Fish/Rounder recording artists, Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan, inspired by the legend- ary duo of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, took that classic, downhome country blues
vocals combine with Sultan’s guitar work which is right out of the ‘30s and ‘40s.
Good time/ragtime/old time/ blues, origi-
nal material, straight-ahead blues, bluegrass, choice covers gleaned from their vintage collec- tions and encyclopedic knowledge are all in the mix.
Recording-wise they have been proli c,
all eight albums receiving critical acclaim throughout the world. Together and separately they have worked on countless  lm scores, TV soundtracks, commercials and sessions; have played to audiences of 300 million via Voice of America, and are frequent guests on National Public Radio.
As founding artists at the  rst Bowlful of
Blues in 1983, they brought down the house. Throughout the 20+ years of the festival’s du- ration they continued to play an integral role, appearing most years except for a few when their services were required at blues and folk festivals abroad.
