Peak enjoyment
Sunset is a subtle thing in this valley.
It doesn't happen. It just suddenly IS.
And suddenly, it is not.
The sun lends light to the moon; our valley borrows its sunset from an invisible ocean fourteen miles distant. In the grasp of the mountains encircling us, it glows fiery pink, exploding the ridge to the north into a sweep of unshaded vibrancy.
In minutes, finis! A final burst of almost-red, and purple seeps out like a stain, pen-
etrates everything. It is, almost immediately, night.
