Crews knock down Encino Drive fire
May 16, 2013 - A small brush fire in the 10700 block of Encino Drive reportedly started when a gardener's weed whacker caught fire Wednesday afternoon. It was extinguished by Ventura County Firefighters from Oak View's Station 23, along with more than a dozen other responding units. Drought conditions are creating dangerous wildfire conditions throughout Southern California, according to fire officials. "The potential for increased fire behavior above the seasonal norm is certain," said Capt. Brendan Ripley, pre-fire planner for the Ventura County Fire Department. "Expect increased seasonal fire behavior with rapid rates of spread."
