Ojai Valley News offers free subscriptions to active duty military

In honor of the sacrifices made by those served in the armed forces of our country, the Ojai Valley News will give free online subscriptions to U.S. active duty service members.

Ojai Valley News Publisher Tim Dewar announced today that any active duty military person is eligible regardless of where they are stationed.

"Having served in the military myself, I know some of the sacrifices these men and woman make," Dewar explained. "Being away from their hometown, often in foreign lands, can sometimes be difficult. That desire to maintain a connection with your hometown and your roots is something that this newspaper can, in some small way, help our military members and their families with."

To qualify for their free online subscription, Dewar said military members can either call the Ojai Valley News at 805-646-1476 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and provide the service member's name, date of birth and date of separation.

Free basketball clinic on tap at Ojai Recreation

A group of local coaches and former high school basketball players will host a free basketball clinic for boys and girls in third to sixth grade Nov. 29 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Ojai Recreation Department.
