Wildcats devour Malibu cagers, 71-52
by Misty Volaski

Another win for the Wildcats went into the record books last week as Villanova's varsity basketball team prevailed over the Malibu Sharks, 71-52.
Not surprisingly, it was Cole Gibson, Djadji Daffe, and Ryan Kirby who led the Wildcat offense. Gibson topped the team with 29 points, followed by Daffe, who had 15 points and 21 rebounds. Kirby contributed 12 points and four assists.
The first and second quarters, however, found Villanova trailing, first by 1, and eventually by 10 points.
After halftime, the Wildcats came back into the game with their usual force, snagging 21 points in the third quarter, while Malibu netted 10, finally bringing the Wildcats ahead, 40-39.
The tirade against the Sharks continued into the fourth quarter, where Villanova shot for 30 points to Malibu's 13.
Though Malibu's Smith scored 20 points, Villanova was able to dominate the Shark defense throughout the second half.
Their next game will be Thursday at Dunn.
The Wildcats next play at Dunn Friday night.
