Condors slide into Championship
by Misty Volaski
The Secure Horizons Condors won their third straight 70-and-over
senior softball tournament at Hemet-Menifee last week. With this
title, the Condors are now eligible to play in the Senior Softball
World Championships, to be held in Phoenix, Ariz., in October.
The Condors looked like anything but winners in their first game,
giving up 13 runs to Tiodize D-99 team from Chino, while scoring
only two runs themselves.
In their second game, the Condors returned to form as they hit
25 balls into the outfield in a 16- 5 victory over Top Gun of
San Diego.
Game three was a thriller, as the Condors fell behind the Southern
California Jets, 16 to 10 going into the bottom of the seventh
inning. When the dust cleared, the Condors came out on top, 17-16.
Games four and five were both won by two runs as the Condors
again defeated the Jets and the Top Gun teams in the final round.
The Condors, who are coached by Dave Townley, have won 10 of
their last 16 games.
