J.V. Rangers kick the opposition
by Misty Volaski

Nordhoff's boys' junior varsity soccer team is currently undefeated -- and coach Alejandro Garcia couldn't be prouder.
"I am really proud of how they're playing. They're really into the game. A 4-0 (league record) is a big deal to us."
The boys' recent 11-0 win over Santa Clara was deemed by players Peter Deneen and Carlos Gomec to be "a joke" and "a bloodbath."
Miguel Lopez topped the Rangers with a hat trick (three goals), while Orlando Flores and Deneen each had two.
As in the Lady Rangers' game against the Saints, the boys were allowed to shuffle positions, bringing the defense up for a shot at the goal.
With that renewed confidence, the Rangers were ready to go head-to-head vs. a team that has, in the past, beaten them in every match -- Santa Paula.
However, Nordhoff proved themselves hardly the underdogs, with another big win.
Evan Jenkins, Lopez, Flores and Cesar Ramos combined for a total of five goals. Stopper David Smith is "doing an awesome job right now," Coach Garcia said.
Defensive anchors Eric Ortiz, Pepe Landeros, and Jorge Soriano kept the ball out of the Ranger goal for the majority of the game, allowing only one Cardinal goal to be netted, for a final score of 5-1, Nordhoff.
The Rangers play today against Calabasas, J.V. and varsity at 3:30.
