Investigation leads to cocaine bust
by Lenny Roberts

Narcotics detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff's Department and the Ventura Police Department completed a month-long investigation into the street-level sales of cocaine in Oak View when José Luis Gutierrez, 25, was arrested last Wednesday during the execution of a search warrant at his home in the 500 block of Mahoney Avenue.
According to Sgt. Bob Garcia, authorities observed Gutierrez selling cocaine in front of his home, directly across the street from the former Oak View Elementary School, and at other Oak View locations. Garcia added that slightly more than a quarter ounce of cocaine with a street value of $560 was seized from Gutierrez's residence, along with more than $800 in cash.
Gutierrez was booked into the Ventura County main jail on charges of sales of cocaine, possession of cocaine for sales and selling cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school. Bail was set at $50,000.
