Seraph golfers hand Wildcats one-stroke loss
by Misty Volaski

A loss this early in Villanova's golf team's season doesn't mean much in the long run. They've played only two matches to date.
But to lose by one stroke to county rival St. Bonaventure- for the first time in two seasons - that's one painful defeat.
Wildcat Chris Colton of Oak View shot a 71, one under par for the Soule Park Golf Course. As one of Villanova's top players, Colton was the medalist of the game. His eagle at the 11th hole, chipping in after a long drive, gave him top match honors.
Eight strokes behind Colton were teammates Aaron Harter and Ryan Kirby, each posting a 79. The Marme brothers, Kyle and Mero, posted a 78 and an 83, respectively.
Colton and Kyle Marme were medalists in their last game against Cate, both shooting a 38 for nine holes to bring their team to the win, 218-194.
Kirby, who played for the Wildcats' first-place basketball squad, is considered one of the golf team's key players.
"I am expecting great play this year from Ryan, Chris and Clark (Tevis)," Coach Brian Grisin said. All three boys return from last year's first-place (Condor League) team. Villanova will face the undefeated Viewpoint at 3 p.m. today and Oak Park on Monday at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at home, at Soule Park Golf Course.
