Mora named P.E.P. Student
of the Month
by Misty Volaski
Manny Mora of Meiners Oaks Elementary was honored last week
as this month's Physical Education Project Student of the Month.
At the Rotary Club's March 15 meeting, Mora was presented with
a $50 savings bond. He also received a certificate from the Governor's
Council on Physical Fitness and Sports and a signed photograph
of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Mora was chosen by his physical education teacher, Bridgette
Lo Piano, and was accompanied to the meeting with teacher Tiffany
Miller.
"He had shown me, so far this year, why he is so deserving
of this award," Lo Piano said. "He is always enthusiastic
about P.E. His kindness towards his fellow classmates is what
I really admire. I always appreciate his hard work and respect
for others."
The Rotary's P.E.P. award is given out to students in elementary
school who demonstrate a willingness to learn and good sportsmanship
in their physical education classes. It is modeled after the
Rotary's Athlete of the Month program.
