Ranger netmen win one, lose
one
by Misty Volaski
It seems the Nordhoff's boys' tennis team is just another
part of the food chain.
Two days after their 14-4 win over the Santa Paula Cardinals,
the Rangers were nearly eaten alive by the Malibu Sharks, 4-14.
Which is not to say Nordhoff didn't put up a good fight.
Coach Ron Edwards said of his squad, "All Ranger players
played well but could not quite keep up with the high skills
from Malibu."
The No. 1 double team Rhett Walker and Tyson Barker won two of
their three sets, 6-0 and 6-1.
NHS's No. 2 team, J.J. Weber and Evan Schick, and No. 3 team,
Meher Galler and Nathan Lurie, each won a set apiece.
The Santa Paula game found all three sweeping the Cardinal doubles.
Andrew Nelson continued his winning streak, taking all three
of his matches, as well.
The Rangers will play next at Carpinteria High School today at
3 p.m.
