· A reader sends two thumbs-up to the sponsors of the 2002 Art Center Theater Season, Ojai Lumber and the Shangri-La Group. Your support is much appreciated.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the Ojai Rotary, Ojai Unified School District and the city of Ojai for working together to replace the old chain-link fence at Matilija Junior High School along the main highway through town. It is a big improvement to our community and the look of our town.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the OVN for publishing its special report on the local water issues.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to city of Ojai for designating a loading/unloading zone on Bryant Circle for the safety of the children at Ojai Center for Children.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the cast and crew of Ibsen's "Ghosts." This timely classic is not to be missed. The acting, the costumes, the set, all work together with a story as profoundly true today as it was when it was written.

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to the people who park blocking the car wash to go to 2nd Helpings and to 2nd Helpings for not asking them to stop.

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to national policymakers for even considering small, short-range nuclear weapons. Are we trying to make the use of nuclear weapons more palatable to the public?

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to those who steal plants and flowers and throw the U.S. flag on the ground at Nordhoff Cemetery. Is nothing sacred in Ojai?

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to the OVN for publishing horoscopes without the disclaimer: "For entertainment purposes only."
