Last Wednesday, Villanova proved once again why they are the
Condor League's top team. In the Condor League Individuals Qualifying
Tournament, each team was allowed to enter four players into
the match, held at Buenaventura Golf Course (par 72).
VPS played against league opponents Ojai Velley School Laguna
Blanca, Cate and Cornerstone Christian.
Chris Colton and Ryan Kirby both were named medalists, each posting
a 75. Kyle Marme was one behind with a 76, and had three birdies.
Teammate Aaron Harter posted an 82.
Colton chipped for an eagle on the 17th hole to tie teammate
Kirby for the medalist honors.
Villanova, which placed first in league, is 14-4 overall and
8-0 in league.
Ojai Valley School's golfers placed further back in the line.
Koji Hirota topped the squad, posting an 89. Harold Juang and
Matt Richardson followed, each posting a 95, while Bobby DeLuca
rounded out the team, posting a 96.
Of his team, VPS coach Brian Grisin said, "We played outstanding
golf this season. I am proud of the effort and dedication of
each team player. We are looking forward to the CIF playoffs."
