Marjorie Jane Davis
Marjorie Jane Davis, 79, of Ojai, died
Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Ojai Valley Community Hospital. She
was born March 10, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., and had lived in Ojai
for 33 years.
She was born to John Emil and Ida Marie Kieding of Chicago, and
she attended Shimer College in Mount Carroll, Ill., from 1941
to 1942. She moved to Los Angeles in 1942 and worked as a secretary.
She married Joseph Allen Davis in 1958. In 1969 she moved with
her husband and two children to Ojai.
Mrs. Davis was a salesclerk and homemaker, and a member of St.
Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ojai. She worked part-time as a
salesclerk in Ventura at The Broadway, and later at J.C. Penney.
Her interests included painting, especially landscapes.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Allen Davis, of Ojai;
son Joseph Allen Davis Jr. of Ojai; daughter Gail Marie Davis
of Ojai; sister Genevieve Marie Ebbesmeyer of Seattle, Wash.;
and six nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m.
at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ojai, 409 Topa Topa Drive.
The Rev. Coryl J. Lassen will officiate.

Herschel L. Corbin
Herschel L. Corbin, 96, died at his
home in Ojai Thursday, May 16, 2002. He was born Aug. 28, 1905,
in Gladewater, Texas, and had lived in Ojai for 30 years.
Mr. Corbin was a heavy-duty equipment operator and a member of
Local No. 12 Operating Engineers for 54 years. He was also a
builder and farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Corbin; son William Corbin;
daughter Catherine Moore; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;
and numerous step-relatives.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Corbin, and
daughter Connie Ogren.
Visitation was held May 18 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Clausen Funeral
Home, and a memorial service was held at the funeral home May
19 at 1 p.m., with Pastor Scott Harrell officiating. Private
interment was at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
