NHS recognizes top athletes

June 5, Nordhoff High School honored its top scholars and
athletes in its annual award night.
There, each student who won a scholarship was publicly recognized
and some where presented with checks and/or plaques. The following
is a list of Nordhoff's highest-acheiving student athletes and
the awards they won:
Jordan Hawkins, football and track and field:
·Ojai Rotary Educational foundation scholarship, $2,000
·Ojai Vocational Technology Scholarship; presented by
Deno Lepas as part of Ojai Backstreet Rods Car Club, $500
·George Mataisz Memorial Scholarship, $250
·Occidental College, $15,000/year
·Piru Petroleum Club, $500
·American Petroleum Scholarship, $1,000
·CSF lifetime membership (sealbearer)
·Golden State Exam Award
·Nordhoff Wall of Fame for track and field
Severo Lara, cross country
·Ojai Rotary Educational foundation scholarship, $2,000
·Ojai Optomist club scholarship, $750
·Robert Skankey Award, $1,000
·Ojai Valley Mexican Fiesta Scholarship, $500
·Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar
·Ranger of the Year (Voted by faculty and staff)
·Outstanding Boy of the Year (voted by senior class; will
lead class to stadium at graduation)
Erin Deneen, co-valedictian and track and field and cross
country:
·Coast Guard Academy Scholarship, $250,000
Flavio Lupercio, cross country:
·Ojai Rotary Educational Foundation Scholarship, $2,000
·Ojai Lion's Club Scholarship, $1,500 over two years
·Ojai Optimist Club Scholarship, $700
·Ojai Mexican Fiesta Scholarship, $500
