Castaway ladies finish 12-1, take Interclub C League

Ojai Valley Athletic Club's womens' C Division tennis team won a decisive first place in the Ventura and Santa Barbara Interclub Tennis League.
A double round-robin was held from last September through May, with each team in the division consisting of four doubles pairs.
Cary Cimmarusti's Castaways, who placed first among eight interclub teams, came away with a 12-1-1 record.
The Castaways were presented with a large traveling trophy June 12 at a luncheon in Solvang at the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort.
Team members traveling to Solvang were team captain Cimmarusti, Suzanne Combs, Mary Gerhart, Ruth Lasell, Marlene Rimensberger and Debbie Switzer. Teammates unavailable to attend were Laura Whitney, Carla Robb and Ana Charolla.
Most of the C Division players this year plan to move up to the B Division next season.
