Sundowners: Chiefs 'i.e.' one point behind Characters
by Misty Volaski

Chiefs "i.e." needed a big win Tuesday to overtake second-place Village Idiots Tuesday at Soule Park Golf Course, and with four players scoring at least 20 points, they did just that - with several points to spare.
The Chiefs, who faltered in the first half of the season, are now just one point behind #&?*!@$%, the overall leaders of the Sundowner's Golf League.
Paul Forchione, Pat Sullivan and Steve Streich led the Chiefs in high points, each adding 21 to their team's overall score. Robbie Robinson's 20 points did not count for the team's total as only the top three scores are used.
#&?*!@$% has retained its top position for the past two weeks, but many others are not far behind. And because the top three teams have changed throughout the second half of the season, more than half the field still has a legitimate shot at the Callender Cup.
#&?*!@$%'s round of 57 points - still three points better than the average - leaves them especially vulnerable to a charge from the red-hot Chiefs. Only one #&?*!@$%, Rich Wilde, placed anywhere on the high points or low gross lists.
Other teams, namely Sammy's Ropers and the Sambaggers, are on a late-season surge. Roper Marshall Lopez nabbed high points honors, along with Bugsy's Bandit Mark Sauer - both earned 23 points for their teams, and the Sambaggers Sam Williamson and Terry Gustafson posted a 33 and 34, respectively, bringing the league's low-handicappers up from seventh to third place.
The top three teams from the second half of the season, plus two wild card teams based on the total combined points for both halves of the season, will join the first-half winners Aug. 10 to determine the Callender Cup winnner.
