Condors four-peat at Huntington Beach tournament
by Misty Volaski

The Secure Horizons Condors 70-and-over senior baseball team returned this week from the 14th annual Huntington Beach Senior Softball Tournament with the championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
The Condors were led by tournament MVP Anson Whitfiels, who batted at a .750 clip, pitched a one-run victory over arch-rival Tiodize D-99 and played superb defense at third base, as well as outfielders Jack Givens and Sal Cisneros, both named to the all-tournamenrt team for their outstanding defensive play and timely hitting.
The Condors were undefeated in five games including what was called a "hair-raising final" with D-99, which produced four lead changes before the Condors prevailed by a score of 13-11.
Since winning the Senior Softball World Championship last September in Las Vegas, the Condors have won six of the last nine tournaments they entered, finishing second twice.
They will travel to Hemet next in August, then to the Field of Dreams in Riverside in September.
From there, they will go to the World Championships in Phoenix in October and the Master's Championship in in Las Vegas in November.
Team members also include Manager Dave Townley, Richard Wheeler, Cuno Ranshau, Ken Lockman, Chuck Schmelter, Walley Mathews, Larry Roberts, Dan Crawford, Sam Marquez, Bill Clement Lou Cunbo, Russ Burton and Andy Zembo.
