Les Hinks Auto stuck in rut
by Misty Volaski
Last Friday was a good day for Les Hinks Automotive. The 12th-place
squad in the Ojai Valley Men's Softball Association played Ojai
Sports, the 11th-place (overall) team - and actually beat them.
The win was fairly rare for Les Hinks, which previously had won
only two games this season in the men's C League softball division.
The game found Les Hinks fighting with all they had in the sixth
inning, in which they scored eight runs. Brian Edwards drove
in the winning run for Les Hinks, bringing them to the 16-15
win.
Edwards' RBI was the last portion of good luck the team saw over
the weekend, however, and Les Hinks Auto fell twice, to Tri County
Trucking and to the Silver Bullets. Against Tri County, Les Hinks
held its own until the fourth inning, when Tri County pulled
ahead by five runs and finished them off, 18-11. Later, Silver
Bullets showed the reason for their sixth-place standing when
they held Les Hinks to just two runs the entire game, winning
11-2.
OVMSA teams play at Sarzotti Park throughout the summer.
