Obituaries for the week ending August 23, 2002


Coy L. McClester

Coy L. McClester, 72, of Ojai, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at his home. He was born July 11, 1930 in Concord, N.C. He had been a resident of Ventura County for 51 years.
Mr. McClester was a self-employed grading contractor for 15 years and an electrician with Local IBEW #952 for 23 years.
He served with the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean War. His interests included spending time with his family, fishing, operating heavy equipment and having coffee with his buddies at Carrows in Ojai.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Imogene McClester, of Ojai; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Jo-Ann McClester of Ojai, and Glen and Gayle McClester of Kelseyville, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Burial was at Nordhoff Cemetery in Ojai.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Livingston Memorial Nurses' Association in his name.
Arrangements were under the direction of Charles Carroll Funeral Home, Ventura.

Mabel T. Jantz

Mabel T. Jantz, 93, of Ojai, died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002. Mrs. Jantz had been active until her sudden death. She was born Sept. 1, 1908 in Texas.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alex Jantz, of Ojai; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Joanne Jantz of Oxnard; and daughter Karen Jantz of Los Angeles.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Ojai United Methodist Church, 120 Church Road, Ojai. Refreshments will follow the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai.
