Senior Eagles soar into Fillmore end zone, 24-0

The Senior Eagles Team scored a big win over the Fillmore Raiders, 24-0. The shutout came after two disappointing losses. The Eagles dominated the entire game, with Eric Luna scoring two touchdowns, Moises Gonzalez had three quarterback sacks, and a tremendous ball carrier sack by Jordan Fries-Hostka which created a fumble that was scooped up by A.J. White and run back to the end zone for the third touchdown, which upped the score to 24-0. White also blocked a Raider punt. Richard Loughman intercepted a Raider pass with only 20 seconds left in the game; as he was tackled he pitched the ball to Eric Luna, who tried unsuccessfully to carry in another touchdown before time ran out.
The Bantam team lost its first game of the year to the Rhinos of Port Hueneme, 30-6. John Woodcock scored the only touchdown for the Eagles on a 35-yard run. Their record is now 2-1.
The J1-Blue team is blue in the face, the Eagles started off with an air attack against the Steelers of Newberry Park. Drew Rodriquez hooked up with wide receiver Gabe Beedy and tight end Tyler Cowles for a 65-yard drive in the first quarter that was stopped on the five-yard line by an interception. Rodriquez threw for a total of 120 yards, capping the day with a touchdown pass to Joseph Brazier in the fourth quarter.
The defense, led by Gabe Beedy, Tyler Wadsworth, Tyler Wiggins, Trevor Leal and Tyler Cowles held the Steelers to one offensive touchdown, the other touchdown came on a punt return in the second quarter, as the Steelers pulled out the win, 14-6.
When the head coach Ed Valencia was asked how his team will rebound, he responded, "Our team has a lot of heart; we play hard for four quarters. When we get the break we need, we will capitalize. This team is ready for a win next week and I think we'll get it."
The loss put the Eagles back with a 0-3 record. They will be playing at 5 p.m. tomorrow against the Raiders of Fillmore.
The J1-Gold team improved their record, 3-0, with a win over Santa Paula by a score of 28-0.
The Eagles controlled both sides of the ball in this contest. On defense, the Eagles front eight - Taylor Kelly, Cody Burr, Evan Magill, Parker Johnsen, Shane Wolcott, Chad Gibson, Chris Gibson and Daniel Vigil - harassed the Cardinals strong-armed quarterback all day long.
Chris Gibson topped the defense with three tackles and two fumble recoveries.
Special teams were once again a bright spot. Tanner Cobb did his job with consistent kicking. The Eagles recovered two on-sides kicks. On offense center Phil Long led the siege with outstanding blocking. Chad Gibson had a 27 yard touchdown where he was touched by nine defenders and broke six tackles. Dougie Davidson contributed with a pass reception.
Jimmie Johnson was the key in the team's running game (86 yards on seven carries). Daniel Vigil (87 yards on nine carries) lead the offense to 229 yards on the ground.
The Gold team will travel to Camarillo to play the Silver team at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
The J2 team lost to Agoura, 42-0, dropping their record to 0-3.
