Nordhoff netters lose to Ventura,

Last week, the Nordhoff girl's tennis team played two matches,
falling at Ventura 15-3 on Tuesday, but bouncing back to defeat
Cate School at home 13-5 Wednesday.
Nordhoff's singles players Danica Day, Katharine Magill, and
Lindsay Lochner performed admirably against the tough Ventura
squad, but were only able to take a single set between them.
The Rangers' doubles teams fared a little better, capturing two
sets to provide the final margin.
Against Cate, the Lady Rangers were in top form. Emily Johnston,
13-2 in match play, continued her dominance, defeating Heidi
Waumboldt, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. Rachel Ward benefited from a default
to take a two-sets-to-one victory over Christine Brown. Erica
Maulhardt lost all three of her sets, but pushed two of them
In doubles play, Nordhoff swept behind strong performances from
all three pairings, losing only a single set. Nicole Petler and
Alex Paddock beat Katie Kinnear and Sophia Brown, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1.
Magill and Lochner took a 6-4, 7-6, 4-6 decision over Brooke
Sorenson and Peggy Chang. Day and Katie Downey beat Vanessa Cruz
and Donna Burnett, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
