J1 Gold Eagles youth gridders
remain perfect with 5-0 record

Senior Eagles
The Senior Eagles team dominated and had a heartbreaking loss
to the Camarillo Roadrunners by five points, 25-20. Eric Luna
got the game off to a great start with a 71-yard touchdown,
and Austin Johnsen followed up with another touchdown. Luna scored
again to put the Eagles ahead with 20 points.
Teammate Shane Strom took advantage of several Roadrunner mistakes,
recovering a fumble and nabbing an interception.
Defensively, Paul Fichera, A.J. White and Josh Benitez each
had a quarterback sack; Benitez also blocked a key pass.
Eagle QB Richard Loughman excelled, consistently getting the
ball where it needed to go.
Tomorrow they will host the Oxnard '49rs at Nordhoff field at
4 p.m.
Junior 1 Gold Eagles
The Junior 1 Gold Eagles improved their record to a perfect 5-0,
with a win against the Raiders of Fillmore (Black team), by a
score of 36 to 12. The offense amassed 391 yards of total offense,
led by Daniel Vigil's three touchdowns, 116 rushing yards, 58
all-purpose yards and a 63-yard TD pass to Jimmie Johnson. Johnson
also caught a 68 yard TD pass from quarterback Shane Wolcott,
who finished three of seven for 81 yards. Jimmie Johnson had
23 yards rushing and 131 yards receiving. The line did a great
job, led by center Phil Long, Cody Burr and Taylor Kelly. The
defense held tough giving up its first points in four weeks to
a tough Raider team. The defense was led by linebacker Chris
Gibson's 10 tackles and eight assists, and Daniel Vigil's eight
tackles, three assists and a pass deflection. Noseguard Cody
Burr was the heart of the defense, playing havoc in the Raider
backfield all day long. Shane Wolcott played a great defensive
end also.
The J1 Gold team plays at Nordhoff stadium tomorrow at 8 a.m.
against Oxnard.
Bantam Eagles
The Bantam Eagles played Camarillo in their second conference
game and lost 12 to 18 in overtime.
The Eagles played a hard game and were led by Alex Leckie's 143
yards rushing, one touchdown and seven tackles on defense; Jonathan
Woodcock's 54 yards rushing and three tackles; and Sean Lorenger's
30 yards rushing, four tackles and a touchdown. Leading the defense
was Connor O'Malley with seven tackles, along with Keegan Shirck,
Robert Thomas, Cameron Giles and Travis Reid, each with a tackle
of their own. The Eagles came from behind to tie the score at
12-12, with Sean Lorenger's 15-yard touchdown run with the help
of his blockers, Tucker DeAlba, Isaac Seymore, Kyle McGillivray,
"Shorty" Williams, Rory Lenehan, Seth Moreno, Jeremy
Kenton and Keegan Shirck. The passing game was led by Dillon
Lowen, with two 17-yard passes to Tucker DeAlba and one 20-yard
pass from Alex Leckie to Keegan Shirck. The Eagle Bantam team
plays at home against the Thousand Oaks Titans at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
