Ranger kickers tie Seraphs in scoreless game
by Misty Volaski

As any Ranger knows, Nordhoff's arch rival is St. Bonaventure of Ventura.
So when Nordhoff's girls' varsity soccer squad met the Seraphs last Thursday, the Rangers were set on crushing St. Bonny.
Both teams were fairly evenly matched in the first half, with each squad taking about three shots on goal, said Nordhoff coach Pete Christl. Basically, he added, "The first half was played at midfield."
However, with the advantage of having a healthy Ally Taylor back from an illness and the determination to win after their 5-0 loss to Westlake, the Lady Ranger forwards repeatedly drove the ball into Seraph territory.
The Rangers outshot the Seraphs 10-0 in the second half. And though the ball "went everywhere but into the net," said coach Christl, Nordhoff's continuous possession of the ball demonstrated their dominance in the game.
A strong Ally Taylor, along with Sarah Stoltz, played "outstanding," according to Christl. Wingbacks Jenny Lang and Mary Ann Christl successfully shut down St. Bonny's offensive attack.
Nordhoff will play tomorrow at Rio Mesa, and again this weekend at the Buena varsity tournament.
