Ally Taylor saves Nordhoff with game-winning goal
by Misty Volaski

With the squad they've got this year, Nordhoff's varsity girls' soccer team could very well win their fifth straight league title.
Coach Pete Christl agrees. "We've got a great team this year," he said.
Nordhoff demonstrated its power last week with a 1-0 win over Rio Mesa. Christl said his team controlled the ball at least 65 percent of the time, and was able to complete critical passes to bring the ball into Spartan territory.
"We were able to slice and dice through them," he said.
And while Rio Mesa made consistent drives down the right side of the field, Nordhoff's defensive unit, led by Mary Ann Christl, repeatedly shut down the Spartan attacks.
At the end of the game, Ally Taylor made a break down the field and put the ball into the net. Rio Mesa was unable to respond, and Nordhoff walked away with another win under their belts.
Nordhoff's varsity plays in the Buena Tournament this weekend. The will return from break to play at Ventura Jan. 7 at 5 p.m.
