· A reader sends a thumbs-up to Jodi Heath at the Ojai Unifed School District for filling the world with brightness and good cheer. Jodi has planted and re-planted the terra cotta in front of the office entrance. It consistently sends the message that beauty in the world leaves a lasting impression on the hearts of all. Thanks Jodi.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to Andy Radford and all the music teachers who made possible the Ojai Youth Symphony, Sinfonia, Ojai Strings Concert Monday night. And congratulations to all the young musicians. You were fantastic! Thanks for a wonderful evening of beautiful Christmas music.

·A reader sends a thumbs-down to our city managers who have done nothing about the housing shortage. If you worked for any other employer you would have lost your jobs by now!

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to a local eatery for not retaining the special table for Ojai's gregarious bon vivant, Sherwood Jackman.

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to the teenage girls riding the trolley Dec. 10 who subjected other passengers to their foul language and trash talk about other fellow students walking by.

·A reader sends a thumbs-down to the group of pre-teen kids who hang out in back of gas stations and on corners of residential neighborhoods with the only reason for being there is to litter and cause property damage, as well as panhandling and trying to buy cigarettes. Where are their parents when these kids are out until 11 p.m.?
