Ranger kickers score three wins
By Misty Volaski
Nordhoff's varsity boys' soccer squad seems
to be following in the footsteps of their female counterparts
- on their way to a season full of big wins.
Jan. 9, coach Alejandro Garcia and the Rangers hosted St. Bonnaventure
of Ventura, and ended up shutting out the Seraphs, 3-0.
"It was a tough, fierce game but Nordhoff never gave up,"
said coach Garcia. They always play like that, he added.
The first Ranger goal came from Orlando Flores, who was assisted
by Austin Magill. Then five munites before the half ended, Flores
scored again - this time assisted by freshman Luis Jungo.
Starting senior goalie Alex Jungo stopped a huge Seraph penalty
kick that kept the Rangers in the game. Nordhoff led 2-0 at the
half.
The second half started with another unsuccessful St. Bonny attempt
on goal. Ten minutes before the game was over, Jungo came up
with a big goal, putting the Rangers on top 3-0.
