Jenks allows one hit in 13-1 VPS win
The Wildcat Softball Team
(5-2 overall/2-0 league) took on First Lutheran at Villanova
Tuesday and came away with an impressive 13-1 win.
Wildcat pitcher Whitney Jenks allowed only one hit and struck
out 15 to pick up her fifth win of the season. The only hit Jenks
allowed was to the first batter in the first inning. After giving
up the lone hit, Jenks struck out the side the next two innings
and then struck out two out of three batters she faced in the
subsequent innings.
The 'Cat offense was led by Tiffany Adams who went a perfect
two for two, scored three runs and blasted a solo home run in
the fourth inning, Jess Campbell who went two for two and scored
two runs and Whitney Jenks who went two for three.
Villanova scored two runs in the second inning when leadoff batter
Whitney Jenks singled, Tiffany Adams walked and Jessica Campbell
sacrificed, scoring Jenks. Adams then scored on a single by Courtney
Ralston. The Wildcats scored another run in the third.
Villanova exploded with five runs in the fourth inning. The fourth
inning started with walks to Sydney Malkin and Connelly Jenks.
Kaitlyn Kirby singled, scoring Malkin, and Whitney Jenks singled
in her sister Connelly.
Tiffany Adams then smashed her solo home run. Jess Campbell then
singled and stole two bases. Courtney Ralston walked and Erica
Helson slapped a sacrifice, scoring Campbell. Stephanie DeSantis
sacrificed, scoring Ralston.
Villanova scored three more runs in the fifth inning on walks
to Tiffany Adams and Sydney Malkin, followed by singles by Jess
Campbell, DeSantis and Connelly Jenks.
The Wildcats face Grace Brethren at Villanova Wednesday at 3:30
p.m.
