Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down for the week ending April 4, 2003

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the men at True Value Hardware who helped two women fix a walker.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the two women on Gridley Trail last Thursday who helped her look for her lost dog, and especially to the one who later found him and brought him back to her.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the millions of people still working for peace, demonstrating, vigiling, boycotting, writing letters, signing petitions, and being politically active.

· A reader sends a thumbs-up to the Ojai Police for responding to a call that their neighbor's horse was loose and the neighbors weren't at home. The police rounded up the horse and got it back into its corral.

· A reader sends a big thumbs-up to the Matilija Junior High School Concert Band for attaining an overall rating of excellent for their performance this past week at the Hueneme Music Festival, held at Pacifica High School, and to the MJHS Chorus for also attaining as overall rating of excellent for their recent performance this week at the Moorpark Choir Festival, held at Chaparral Middle School in Moorpar - and to the school's music director, Don Orser, for his outstanding leadership of both groups.


· A reader sends a thumbs-down to drivers in the Ojai Valley. Can you say, "Speed limit"?

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to United States for using depleted uranium weapons in Iraq, spreading radioactive fallout over civilians and soldiers.

· A reader sends a thumbs-down to the propaganda saying this illegal attack will bring freedom to Iraq when our constitutional rights are being eroded by the Patriot's Act, here in the good old USA.
