O'Donnell drives in game-winner in 17-16 slugfest

Gold Coast Upholstery faced off against Shanda's in Oak View earlier this week in the Ojai Recreation Department's C Softball League. Gold Coast had the hot bats for the first inning, plating six runs. Holding Shanda's scoreless for their first two at bats, the Coast team stayed out in front.

Shanda's bats woke up in the bottom of the third inning, starting with Randy McGraw and Lacey Abrent, who racked up five runs. Shanda's plated two in the bottom of the fifth, and were able to hold the Coast team scoreless that inning to take the one run lead. Finding their bats in the seventh, Shanda's Juan Perez homered in three of their final seven runs.

The Coast scored one in the top of seven, but weren't able to catch the hard-hitting Shanda's. The final score was Shanda's 14, Gold Coast 7.
R. Davis Construction faced off against the Hit & Miss crew and won the game by a four-run margin. Davis took the early lead, batting through their lineup to score 10 in the first, and one in each of the next two innings.
Hit & Miss came back to score score six in the first three innings, three from a three-run home run hit by Dennis Carmichael.

Over the next three innings, Hit & Miss plated two to Davis' three. Down by six, in the top of seven, Hit & Miss attempted a come back with Randy Villa doubling and scoring one of the next three runs, but couldn't catch up to Davis Construction. The final score was R. Davis Construction 15, Hit & Miss 11.
B League

Playing against the Bat Busters, Brue's Body got the game started with four runs scored. Bat Busters answered with a three-run homer by Jeremy Clark. Holding the Body Shop in check in the top of two, the Busters took the one-run lead in the bottom of the inning. Brue's racked up four in the next two innings, but were outpaced by the Busters' one run in the third and seven runs in the fourth.

Chasing five in the top of five, Brue's plated three runs over the next two innings, while the Busters had two cross the plate. In a "do-or-die" situation in the in the top of the seventh inning, Brue's Kim Herman and John Lowe reached base and scored on an error, while Brue's pitcher Gerald Deason slammed a three-run home run to go up by one.

In the bottom of the seventh, Buster Mike O' Donnell drove in both Colleen Cody and Brian Edwards for the win.

The final score was Bat Busters 17, Brue's 16.
