ORD men's softball opens season with four-way tie

The spring season officially started last week for Men's Recreation Softball. The first round for the men's league will be a round robin format, with the top four team advancing to the B League, and the other seven teams filling out the C League. The final cut will be made after one complete round has been played.

The current standings and big batters for the week are:
Avenue Boyz (2-0):
· Martin Mendoza slammed three home runs. two singles and five RBIs for the day.
· Pitcher Arlo Vera stroked five singles and a double, with three RBIs.
Frank's Rooter Service (2-0):
· Troy Rutherford went eight for nine with three singles, two doubles, three home runs, a sacrifice fly and a walk, scoring eight runs.
· Albert Alonzo slammed two singles, a triple and a home run, four RBIs.
Ojai Optical (2-0):
· Chris Oakland was four for eight with two singles, a triple, center field home run and scored three runs.
· Outfileder Mark Smith went five for six with five singles, two walks and six runs plated.
Ojai Sports (2-0):
· Rick Vogel was an almost-perfect seven for eight, with four singles, two doubles and a home run while driving in eight runs.
· Sean Lowry connected with three singles and three doubles with two RBIs.
Oak View Outlaws (1-1-0):
· Coach Ray Fraser slammed five singles in his seven at-bats.
· Ron Acosta went three for four on the day, with three singles and two walks.
Andria's Seafood (0-1-1):
· Josh Hinks went three for five with a single, double, home run and a sacrifice fly for two RBIs.
· Steve Arneson was four for six with two singles, a double, triple and two RBIs.
Silver Bullets (0-1-1):
· Terry Schliecher slammed a single, two doubles and two left field home runs with a total of three RBIs.
· Robby Lasby had a double and three long center field home runs, with eight RBIs.
Ojai Valley Community Church (0-1-0):
· Cedric Beaty hit two singles, a double and plated four runs.
· Don Smith was three out of four with two singles, a double, and two RBIs.
Wolfpack (0-1-0):
· Justin Bracamonte doubled, tripled and crossed the plate twice for the Pack.
· Ryan Fiore smacked two singles on the day.
Jameson (0-2-0):
· Carlos Torres went four for six with three singles and a double.
· Tyson Silvestri hit two singles and a sacrifice with two runs scored.
Pat's Liquor (0-2):
· Travis Frazier doubled and homered to center field.
· Jim Irvine slammed a single and a home run for Pats.
