Rhino's FFFF top Sundowners
By Lenny Roberts
Above Par's Jerod Wallace continued
his torrid play Tuesday afternoon at Soule Park, firing a two-under-par
34, keeping Dave Cornell's squad in second place after five weeks
of Sundowners Golf League play. Cornell lead all players with
23 points, but other teammates faltered as Above Par was not
able to overtake the surging Rhino's FFFF, which moved into first
place for the first time in recent memory by a single point.
The Fs, on the strength of 21 points from Mark Bartholemew and
former Ojai Mayor Steve Olsen, and 18 from charter player Ed
Monteath, posted 60 points for their nine-hole rounds.
That's Good, Pick It Up, slipped form first to third with an
average 54 point afternoon, but stayed in the hunt, just three
points back of Rhino's.
The Scramblers and two-time champs Bopper's Thumpers, with 281
and 280 points, respectively, round out the league's top five
teams.
Behind Wallace for the low rounds of the week were Jacob Lusk,
with a round of 35, Greg Kountz, Sam Williamson and Stan Coburn,
each of whom posted even-par rounds, and Tyson York and Cornell,
at one-over par.
Behind Cornell in the points column were Danny Cole, with 22,
and Kountz and Olsen, with 21 each. Six players posted 20 points.
