Above Par tops Sundowners golf
By Lenny Roberts
Above Par regained the top spot
in the Sundowners Golf League Tuesday afternoon by virtue of
21 points from Brian ramsey, 20 from Ken Kallusky, and 19 from
team captain Dave Cornell. Rhino's FFFF, which had taken over
the lead after four rounds of play last week, slipped into second
place, despite posting a better-than-average 56 points.
High team points for the week, however, went to Dr. Jay's Fps
and your Handicap's What?, with 64 each, followed by Village
Idiots and the Forrest Gumps, whose top three players totaled
62 points.
The biggest disappointment of the week went to the Sam Williamson-less
Meiners Oaks Sash & Door, which tumbled to the bottom of
the standings via a dismal 47-point outing. Only Doug Ragan's
one-under-par 35, good for 20 points, was the bright spot for
the league's perennial low-grossing squad.
James Baratone, Dave Tucker and Stan Coburn led the low scorers
with rounds of 34, and Jacob Lusk, Mark Wilde, Tyson York, Rob
Graham joined Ragan with rounds of 35. Jim Gamble and Wilde led
the points list with 23 each, followed by Coburn, Tucker and
Jim Nelson, each of whom posted 22 points for the nine-hole round.
It was previously reported that when Ray Lara posted 27 points
earlier this season, he tied a decade-old record set by Richard
Sheeler. That record was again tied last year by Steve Streich.
