Murphy to play in national
b-ball tourney
By Etienne Emmanuel

After an outstanding performance in the USA Junior National all-state high school basketball competition, T.J. Murphy, who is currently a junior at Nordhoff High School, has been invited to participate in the prestigious USA Junior National Championship Sports Festival on July 7 through 13, in Columbus, Ohio.

"The tryout was held at UCSB There were a lot of good players. Hopefully I get a chance to play against a high level of competition and get some exposure, so that some schools can see me play," said Murphy.

Based in Madison, Wisc., the USA Junior Nationals provides one of the top amateur competitions in the United States. It offers its program to all athletes who have a high interest in basketball, and to those who are interested in developing their skills and techniques through statewide, national and international competition. The event is an opportunity for all athletes to improve their basketball talent through highly organized competition.

USA Junior Nationals offers one-day competitions at 44 sites throughout the country in the spring with competition scheduled throughout the South, Midwest, and east, and west coasts. Athletes who demonstrate advanced skills, team leadership, competitive spirit, and good sportsmanship go on to the next level of play, which is the USA Junior National Sports Festival.
