Therese Jennerson Pupa
Therese Jennerson Pupa, 73, of Ojai,
died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 after a brief illness. She was born
May 1, 1930 in Salina, Kan.
She had been a resident of Ojai for more than 35 years. She was
a homemaker and raised her three sons in Ojai. Her interests
included playing bingo, occasional trips to Pismo Beach and Las
Vegas, and going to garage sales.
Mrs. Pupa is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael
and Robyn Pupa of Ojai, Steve and Dee Pupa of Oak View, and Joe
and Tera Pupa of Ventura; her sisters, Mary Rickard and Beth
Dessett; and six grandchildren.
Her family extends their appreciation to the caregivers at Community
Memorial and Ojai Valley Community hospitals.

Carl F. Huntsinger
Carl F. Huntsinger, 73, of Ojai, died
Thursday, June 19, 2003. He was born Aug. 24, 1929 in Oxnard,
Calif.
He graduated from Ventura High School in 1947 and graduated with
honors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1951.
He began his career as a strength test engineer with Douglas
Aircraft, and also worked as an engineer with Shell Oil Company.
Mr. Huntsinger joined the Ventura Tool Company, a family-owned
business, in 1953. He moved with his wife and two daughters to
Germany, where he established an oil tool company in 1960. Upon
returning to the United States in 1963, he became the president
and chief executive officer. With his brother, Fritz Jr., Ventura
Tool Company was launched as a worldwide supplier of offshore
equipment. Mr. Huntsinger renamed the company Vetco Offshore
Industries and took the company public in 1968. He served as
the president and chief executive officer of the company from
1968 to 1974.
Mr. Huntsinger and William Myers purchased Blue Goose Growers
from Pacific Lighting Corporation in 1975. Blue Goose Growers
was sold to Dole Foods in 1979.
Mr. Huntsinger was associated with many local and national organizations.
He was a member of the board of directors of Sunkist Growers
from 1975 to 1979, and served on the board of Bank of A. Levy
for several years. In June of 1983, he became a member of the
board of directors of Southern California Edison and retired
from that board in 2002. He also served on the board of the Ojai
Valley Land Conservancy and the Ventura County Taxpayers Association,
becoming chair of that organization in 2002.
Mr. Huntsinger is survived by his wife, Carolyn; three children,
Diane Carson, Amy Miyawaki and Eric Huntsinger; his brother,
Fritz R. Huntsinger; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held Sunday, June 29, 2003, at St. Andrew's
Episcopal Church in Ojai. There will be a reception in Fisher
Hall immediately following the service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made
to Casa Pacifica, Ojai Rotary Educational Foundation, the Ojai
Valley Community Hospital Foundation, or St. Andrew's Episcopal
Church, Ojai.
Arrangements are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home
in Ojai.

Jacqueline Carson Longmire
Jacqueline Carson, 74, of Ojai, died
Thursday, June 19, 2003. She was born April 14, 1929 in St. George,
Utah, to Elva Mace and Jack Carson.
She attended the University of California at Los Angeles, California
State University-Northridge, and graduated with a doctor of naturopathy
degree from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in
Portland, Ore.
Ms. Carson was active in her community, and the arts and music.
She sang with the Ojai Camerata, the Unitarian Choir in San Diego,
and docented at the Mengei Art Museum. She belonged to many organizations,
including the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Ms. Carson is survived by her daughters, Leigh Sparks, of Ojai,
and Lesley Longmire of Carpinteria; son Robert Longmire of Denver,
Colo; sister LaDean Berry of San Diego; former husband Donald
Longmire of Carpinteria; and five grandchildren.
A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, June 28, 2003 at
2 p.m. at the home of Leigh and Terry Sparks, 1125 Granito Drive,
Ojai.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.

Jimmy D. Norris
Jimmy D. Norris, 56, of Oak View, died
Monday, June 23, 2003. He was born Feb. 5, 1947 in Merced, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl L. Norris, of Oak View; daughter
Lynndee S. Norris of Oak View; son Jimmy L. Norris of Casitas
Springs; mother Fern Norris of Casitas Springs; brothers Jerry
N. Norris of Grass Valley, Calif., and Jeff S. Norris of Woodenville,
Wash.
The family is holding a gathering today at 11 a.m. at the Padre
Serra Cross in Ventura, where Mr. Norris spent time flying his
remote control airplanes.
Memorial Service
The memorial service for Carl F. Huntsinger will be held Sunday,
June 29, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ojai,
with a reception following in Fisher Hall .
