OVLL All Stars capture district championship
The Oak View Little League 11- and 12-year-old tournament baseball
team won the District 63 title Sunday.
The OVLL All-Stars lost their first game, which dropped them
into the loser's bracket. There, they won seven games in a row
to capture the title.
After losing game one, 1-0, to Carpinteria, they beat Santa Paula,
11-1, Montalvo, 3-2, Foothill, 12-2, Saticoy, 5-4, and faced
Carpinteria again, where they won, 6-0, to earn a berth in the
championship game.
Facing Goleta Valley and needing to beat them two games in a
row, Oak View defeated Goleta, 1-0, in game one, and 8-1 in game
two to win the championship.
The players are: Jimmie Johnson, Thomas Quackenbush, Tyler Richardson,
Michael Marrietta, Michael Garcia, Kiko David, Garrett Ochoa,
Trevor Leal, Cody Keller, Joseph Brazier, Steven Merrill and
Eric White. The manager is Jon Johnson and coaches are Glenn
Pinkard, Tim Leal and Robert Garcia.
The Oak View All Stars Move into the section tournament, which
starts Friday in Santa Paula at 6:30 p.m. against North Side
Little League of Oxnard.
