T.A.C.T. stays on top in OWSL
By Jesse Phelps
T.A.C.T. and Husted Maytag are
undefeated after two weeks of competition in the Ojai Women's
Softball League and headed for a showdown in today's first game.
On July 3, Husted played its first game against Hit and Miss
and exploded for 21 runs in an 18-run victory. Kimber Wilkinson
was an offensive star, racking up four singles in five at-bats
and one RBI. Lacey Albrent powered a home run and two singles,
driving in three runs.
Kris Moffet and Anna Lewis had two hits each for Hit and Miss,
which kept the game close for two innings.
Albrent's blast started a three-run rally in the third inning.
By the end of the frame, her team enjoyed a four-run lead, which
it never relinquished.
Husted followed that win up last week with a 7-4 victory over
Just Us Again. A four-run third inning and a two-run fifth put
the game out of reach.
In other action from week one, T.A.C.T. exploded for 14 runs
in its own win over Just Us Again and also notched a win over
Ojai Pizza.
In week two action, T.A.C.T. just eked out a 6-5 win over Hit
and Miss behind three hits each from Amie Cresto and Camilla
Flores. Shawna Lewis had three hits and Cathy Hamlet had two
hits for Hit and Miss but they fell short after T.A.C.T. tallied
the winning run in the final inning.
Hit and Miss did notch a win of its own during week two against
Ojai Pizza.
Just Us Again did notch a win of its own, a 12-3 hammering of
Ojai Pizza in week two.
In today's action, Husted Maytag (2-0) will play a double header,
starting vs. T.A.C.T. (3-0) at 6:15 p.m. and then vs. Ojai Pizza
(0-3) at 7:30 p.m. The day's final match up features a battle
between Just Us Again (1-2) and Hit and Miss (1-2) at 8:45 p.m.
