Britannia's back
For the 22nd year, kids from
all over Southern California will be attending the one-week coaching
session of Britannia Soccer Camp, beginning Sunday and ending
Aug. 8. The camp is for kids ages 5 to 15.
The camp is both a boarding and day camp for soccer players to
improve their playing skills and develop team tactics. The junior
camper program is for kids ages 5 to 7, and runs from 8:45 a.m.
to noon, from Monday to Friday Aug. 8. Participants will learn
from professionals to improve their individual technique.
Over the past camps, the British coaches have been very impressed
with the level of play and the enthusiasm of the players.
Steve Hoffman, United States National A license coach and former
professional player from England, said, "The players have
responded well to our fundamental skills and advanced sessions.
We have emphasized more tactical play and everyone is enjoying
a very full day of soccer."
Also coaching is Graham Smith. Smith is a professional player
from England, who holds a full license from the Football Association
and was a staff coach at Lilleshall, the national soccer headquarters
of England. He has been a selector for the F.A. School of Excellence,
course director for the Japanese F.A. and commercial director
of the Premier League Chelsea F.C.
"Every player is given a detailed evaluation from their
coach. Everyone improves and has fun doing it," said Mike
Hall-Mounsey, Britannia Soccer Camp director and Ojai Valley
School Lower Campus headmaster.
