WTT kicks
off league play with Dunlop Demo Day
World Team Tennis Competition returns Aug. 29 and 30. The six-team,
36-player league features singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.
Adults start Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. and play each Saturday for 11
weeks. Juniors start Aug. 28 and also play for 11 weeks. The
junior WTT is for children registered in the Recreation Department
Tennis Program, but open enrollment is available. Cost is $39
for adults and $35 for juniors.
Opening day will be Dunlop Demo Day with new rackets available
to use and a chance to hit for prizes.
Last week of Surf Camp starts
Aug. 11
This week and every week this summer, the Ojai Recreation Department
will host a youth Summer Surf Safari Class.
Held at beaches all over the county (depending on the surf),
the next class will start Monday and end next Friday.
Classes run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the vans leave at 8:30
a.m. from the Boyd Center. Ages 9 to 15 are welcome for the course,
and tuition is $150 per five-day session.

High adventure camp on the
way
The Ojai Recreation Department will be conducting a two-night,
three-day hiking and discovery adventure on the coast of California.
Campers will sleep under the stars on the beaches of San Simeon,
discover coastal wildlife and hike throughout the area.
Campers ages 9 to 14 are welcome on the trip, which runs Aug.
18 to 22. Tuition is $198 per camper. Call 646-1872.
Survive the summer with ORD day camp
Kids ages 9 to 12 are encouraged to join the Ojai Recreation
Department's Summer in Ojai at Sarzotti Camp (S.O.S.).
Kids will get the chance to participate in a variety of activities,
from Capture the Flag to soccer to arts and crafts and free time
at the playground.
Kids ages 5 to 8 can participate in the Discovery Day Camp, which
is much the same as its counterpart, yet specifically designed
for younger children. Both camps run throughout the summer.
The cost is $90 per week for full day (7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.),
$60 for half day (either 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or 12:30 to
6 p.m. The daily rate is $25.
