Annual Labor Day Softball Tourney turns 30
Saturday
Once again Labor Day weekend
returns to the Ojai Valley, and with it comes the gathering of
softball players from throughout Southern California for Ojai's
30th annual Labor Day Softball Tournament.
This Labor Day tournament is a milestone for the tournament,
marking its 30th year of existence.
In addition to the open tournament, there will also be a 50-and-over
division competition, as well as the usual crowd favorite, the
Long Ball Contest, which will be held Saturday evening
The tournament and activities will be held at Sarzotti Park throughout
the weekend, starting early in the morning on Saturday. One of
the tournament's coordinators, Sheri Gobson, said the tournament
is a big favorite with Ojai residents, with its hometown players
and "world famous tri-tip burritos." There will also
be a snack bar, and Coors will also have booths for the 21-and-over
crowd.
In all, 68 games will be played. Though team spots have long
since filled up, softball fans are encouraged to come root for
their favorite teams.
