Local tennis great to host OVYF benefit

On Sunday, Oct. 12, tennis players from around the county will gather at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club and Libbey Park for the fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon.

Hosted by tennis celebrity Stacy Margolin Potter, this fun event challenges players of all levels toplay 50 games of tennis in an afternoon to support the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. Stacy played on the women's professional tour for 10 years andwas ranked No. 18 in the world.

She enjoys giving back to the community in a way that supports the local youth and adults for a healthier city.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 11 with a free youth tennis clinic from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Libbey Park. Kids are invited to have some fun on the court with Stacy and local pros.

On Sunday, Oct. 12, the Tennis Marathon kicks off with a continental breakfast for all participants. Each entrant also receives a commemorative T-shirtand goodie bag.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, with plenty of courtside pampering from local massage therapists. A plethora of prizes and great food (catered by PB&J),await the many players who haverisked life and limb to play tennisall day. This event is for players of all levels, with careful matching of abilities for extreme fun in every flight.

Prizes include an Indian WellsTennis Tournament weekend; audio-visual equipment; tennis equipment (including a signed Bryan Brothers Wilson Surge racket); pro lessons; Weil TennisAcademy Summer Cam; and much more.
In addition, those who raise more than $100 will receive a special prize.

It is not too late to be part of what is fast becoming a favorite Ojai tradition. Sponsor packets and registration information are available by calling Traci David at 646-3970.

All players who sign up by Sept. 12 will be invited to a special Extreme Doubles Exhibition featuring Stacy Margolin Potter and local pros, followed by a free barbecue.
