Coach Lonnie Stanford would like to announce openings in his fifth- to eighth-grade Ojai Lightning basketball squad.

Youths and adults, improve your golf game this month
The Ojai Recreation Department will be offering golf lessons for adults and youths beginning Sept. 22. Learn the game of golf at a world-class resort with professional instruction from the staff at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. No clubs? It's OK - all equipment will be provided.

Relax your mind and body with t'ai chi ch'uan
T'ai chi ch'uan is an ancient meditative martial art, which Clifton Gore will guide class participants through.
It involves slow, controlled movements, whose benefits include stress reduction and improved balance and health. Loose clothing and low-heeled shoes are recommended.
Ages 16 and up are welcome to the class, which is held at the Boyd Center Mondays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Classes are $8 per participant.

Wildcat Golf Classic set for Oct. 3
Villanova Preparatory School will hold its annual Wildcat Golf Classic on Friday morning, Oct. 3, at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.
Participants and sponsors will benefit the Father John Glynn, OSA, Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to students from families demonstrating financial need. Player fee is $250 and includes 18 holes of golf, cart, gourmet lunch, goodie bag and the chance to win great prizes. Tee sign and other sponsorships are available. To become a sponsor or reserve space for one player or a foursome, contact Heather Clopton, Villanova Development Office at 646-1464.

Fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon begins Oct. 12
The fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon, hosted by local tennis legend Stacy Margolin Potter, will begin Sunday, Oct.12.
As of now, 56 players have signed up for this four-hour tennis marathon. Tennis enthusiasts will attempt to play 50 games of tennis in four hours.
There will be food, prizes and a number of tennis matches going on all at once at the Libbey Park courts.
There will also be a tennis clinic, free to all youths, the day before the marathon, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. to prep players for the marathon. All proceeds will go to benefit the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. Those interested in signing up may call Traci David at 646-3970.

ORD hosts drop-inb-ball, v-ball
All levels are welcome at the ORD's drop-in sports nights. Running through the end of this month, the ORD will host a drop-in basketball night, held on Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Volleyball will be played Sundays from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
All will be played in the ORD gym.
