Free youth tennis clinic Oct. 11
Young beginning tennis players can enjoy a free tennis clinic on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lower Libbey Tennis Courts.
No equipment or experience is necessary, and there will be prizes for everyone who participates. This free clinic is part of the Ojai Tennis Marathon weekend, an annual event that benefits the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. The Marathon takes place on Sunday, Oct. 12. New session of Ojai Valley Gymnastics starts today
The Ojai Recreation Department and the Ojai Valley Gymnastics Club are offering a new eight-week gymnastics session, beginning Oct. 20 and ending Dec. 19.
Tiny Tumblers (coed; ages 2 to 3) practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. Kindergym (coed; ages 4 to 6) practices the same days from 12 to 12:45 p.m. or 2:45 to 3:30 p.m.
Beginners' boys (ages 7 and up) practice Monday and Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Advanced boys (must have completed beginners) are the same days from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Beginners' girls (ages 7 and up) can choose one of the following three options: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday and Friday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., or Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Intermediate girls (must have completed beginners) practices Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Team (must have completed intermediates) practice Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Fees are as follows:
· 45 minute classes: for one class a week, $35; for two classes, $65; for three, $94
· 60 minute classes: for one class a week, $41; for two, $76; for three, $111.
· For the competitive team: three days a week, $135.

The Ojai Recreation Department is now accepting registration forms for the 2004 youth basketball season.
The cost is $65 for kids second- to ninth-grade, and $45 for kids kindergarten to first grade.

Noah Lowry report
Pitching for the San Francisco Giants, Noah Lowry, 1999 Nordhoff High School graduate, made his Major League debut Saturday, Sept. 5 at Pac Bell Park against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In that game, he appeared in relief for one inning, giving up one hit while striking out one.
Friday night, Lowry pitched one inning of relief against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, striking out two and walking none. On Sunday, the last day of the regular season, Lowry again faced the Dodgers in Los Angeles, pitching two and one-third innings with one walk and one strike out. Lowry did not make the Giants' playoff roster.
