October Classic raises $10,000 for Ojai Hospital

Over 180 participants joined in to walk, run, wheel and stroll to benefit the Ojai Community Hospital last Saturday. The event, the October Classic, a 10K and 5K run and walk, saw approximately $10,000 in sponsorships and donations pour in to Ojai's only hospital.

"We did a little better this year than last," said Dr. Fred Fauvre, a member of the October Classic committee. "We had more sponsors and fewer expenses, and more participants. It was a bigger event this year."

The following are the 10K top three participants in each age division:

Women ages 30 to 39:

Mellisa Blumenthal, 27th place, with a time of 51:03.43.
Laurena Crane, 28th place, with a time of 51:25.98.
Delia Felix 36th place with a time of 57:23.30.

Women ages 40 to 49:
Erica Coble, second place with a time of 41:53.39.
Luann McKenzie, sixth place with a time of 43:16.33.
Terri Wape, 11th place with a time of 45:23.31.

Women ages 50 to 59:
Elizabeth Patterson, 30th place with a time of 52:08.22.

Women ages 60 to 69:
Kari Cantu, 42nd place, with a time of 1:03:08.
Ruth Milner, 45th place, with a time of 1:22:00.

Men ages 12 and under:
Matthew Preiss, 34th place, with a time of 56:59.25.

Men ages 13 to 29:
Adam Hunt, 10th place, with a time of 45:07.97.

Men ages 30 to 39:
James McManus, ninth place, with a time of 44:03.86.
