Free youth tennis clinic Oct. 11
Young beginning tennis players can enjoy a free tennis clinic on Saturday, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lower Libbey Tennis Courts.
No equipment or experience is necessary, and there will be prizes for everyone who participates. This free clinic is part of the Ojai Tennis Marathon weekend, an annual event that benefits the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. The marathon takes place on Sunday. Fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon begins Oct. 12
The fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon, hosted by local tennis legend Stacy Margolin Potter, will begin Sunday.
As of now, 56 players have signed up for this four-hour tennis marathon. Tennis enthusiasts will attempt to play 50 games of tennis in four hours.
There will be food, prizes and a number of tennis matches going on all at once at the Libbey Park courts. There will also be a tennis clinic, free to all youths, the day before the marathon, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. to prep players for the marathon.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation. Those interested in signing up may call Traci David at 646-3970.

Become a basketball Shark
Don't get bitten! Become a Shark with the Ojai Sharks Basketball team.
They are inviting boys ages 10 and 11 to participate in the team's practice, clinic and tryouts continuing Wednesday through Oct. 15.
The Sharks will practice in the Matilija Junior High School gymnasium from 5 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday.
There is no charge for the four-week session, but those who are interested should call Dan Placial at 701-2055 to reserve a spot during the session.

Register now for ORD youth basketball
The Ojai Recreation Department is now accepting registration forms for the 2004 youth basketball season.
The cost is $65 for kids second- to ninth-grade, and $45 for kids in kindergarten to first grade.
