Tennis Marathon nets
$22,000 for OVYF
The fourth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon attracted 66 players last Sunday to play 50 games of tennis, raising funds for the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation.

The event brought in more than $22,000 for local youth programs, with participants rewarded by courtside massages, prizes, food and drink. The top fund-raisers were Jerry Kaplan (adult category) and McCoy Becker (youth category).

The previous morning more than 50 local kids participated a free tennis clinic by volunteer instructors, including host, Stacy Margolin Potter, as part of the marathon weekend.

The following are the top three fund-raisers in the adult flight:

First place, David Gonzalez.
Second place, Jeff Becker.
Third place, Mark Happach.
Aliso Flight
First place, Cary Cimmarusti.
Second place, Alexandra Zielsdorf.
Third place, Dave Bettles.
Gridley Flight
First place, Ian Potter.
Second place, Anne Williamson.
Third place, Lauren Belshe.
Los Encinos Flight
First place, Dan Martin.
Second-place tie between Jerry Kaplan and Larry Simpson.
Third place, Catherine VonBurg.

The following are the youth flights:

Alvarado Flight
First place, Seth Santini.
Second place, McCoy Becker.
Third place, Katya Welborn.
McAndrew Flight
First place, Caleb Sommer.
Second place, Evan Jonker.
Third place, Nathan Lurie.
Highwinds Flight
First place, Spencer Dauer.
Second place, Michael Finley.
Third place, Kelsey Jonker.
