Lady Ranger spikers on top in league play
By Misty Volaski

This is a big season for the Nordhoff varsity girls' volleyball crew. With six seniors and a 9-1 record, the Lady Rangers are looking like a force in the Frontier League not seen in several years.

Seniors Brittney Ferro, Alison Bennett, Shannon Bryant, Stephanie Sproul, Lianne Zimmermann and Lindsay Collier are leading the squad this year both in statistics and spirit.

The girls' per-game averages speak for themselves.

Ferro, a setter, has an average of 25 assists and two aces per game. Teammate and fellow senior Bennett (also of Ranger basketball fame) hands out an average of 13 kills and three aces a game.

Holley Meisch leads the team in digs per game with 15, followed by Bryant and Amie Cresto with 10 digs each. Bryant also adds an average of six kills and two aces to Nordhoff's score per game, while Flasch gets in eight digs, 11 kills three aces and three blocks a game.

The girls recently took first place in the consolation bracket in the San Luis Obispo Tournament, and went on to take third in the Carpinteria Tournament. In Carp, Ferro was awarded with All-Tournament honors.
The Lady Rangers took on Oaks Christian yesterday; results were unavailable as of press time. They will play at Santa Clara High School in Oxnard tomorrow at 5 p.m. Junior varsity will start
at 4 p.m.
