general comment: I would if I could (afford it, that is) - it is often cheaper to buy off the Internet, even after shipping costs.  I reluctantly gang up all my non-local needs on one shopping list and then "do it all" in a single trip to Ventura.  Also, I find that customer service in some local shops is sorely lacking - for example, our recently closed independent bookstore which could not be bothered to order the books I requested,  to redeem a pre-paid gift certificate.
