Salud Carbajal (D-Santa Barbara) will be in Ojai speaking from 3 to 5 p.m. (doors open at 2:30 p.m.) at a meeting of the Ojai Valley Democratic Club, which has endorsed the candidate for California’s 24th Congressional District. The event is being held at the private residence of Dulaine and Doug LaBarre at 206 S. Blanche St.

When a wildlife crossing over 10 lanes of Highway 101 at Liberty Canyon in Agoura is completed, wild animals will be able to cross over without having to dodge speeding vehicles.
The groundbreaking for the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, 165-by-200-feet long, will be held April 22. The crossing will connect habitats for the endangered mountain lion in the Simi Hills and Santa Monica Mountains.

On April 14 the Ojai Historic Preservation Commission gave unanimous approval to the plans that owner David Berger has put forward for the Ojai Playhouse facade in terms of paint, marquee, stucco and other details, but held back final approval of the proposed letter signage pending an on-site demonstration of the unique krypton lit letters that spell out ‘Ojai Playhouse.’
State Lands Commission invites public to meeting on Rincon Island - April 27

On April 27 the public is invited to a site visit with the members of the California State Lands Commission to tour Rincon Island, at Mussel Shoals, where 27 onshore and 50 offshore oil and gas wells are being decommissioned.

Ojai Planning Commission to meet Wednesday, April 20

On Wednesday, April 20, the Ojai Planning Commission is scheduled to review additional aspects of Hotel El Roblar, which received approval on April 6 for the proposed renovation plans of the property at 211 E. Ojai Ave., but was asked to bring back the plans for lighting, landscaping, bicycle parking and other details including a materials board for review by the commission.

Meiners Oaks Water District to review water rate increase - April 19 meeting

On Tuesday, April 19 the Board of Directors of Meiners Oaks Water District (MOWD) has a regularly scheduled meeting, which will be held virtually.
Items scheduled to be voted on include a required notice for an upcoming public hearing for a water rate increase, allocating $200,000 for an upgrade to MOWD’s water treatment plant and the approval of three “will-serve” letter requests for parcels at: 270 N. Lomita, 578 El Sol, and 1377 S. La Luna. Will-Serve Letters are required for new water service.
