Windy weather fueled the Dec. 7 Cornell fire in Santa Paula after a tree toppled on a power line.
Southern California Edison told the city late Dec. 22 that Ojai has been removed from possible public safety power shutoffs for the time being.
Edison had notified the city on the afternoon of Dec. 21 that it was monitoring Ojai circuits for possible shutoff due to forecasted fire weather.

UPDATE: Ojai man, 37, dies days after being found unresponsive in Ventura jail cell

Steven Johnson, 37, of Ojai was found alone and unresponsive in his Ventura County pre-trial detention facility on Dec. 15 at 11:15 a.m. and died at Ventura County Medical Center on Dec. 20 at 9:13 p.m.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office investigation has determined he died as a result of suicide by hanging.
Another inmate from Santa Paula, age 43, is also reported to have died Nov. 23 from hanging after being found unresponsive in his Ventura County jail cell on Nov. 15.
